Final Campus Police Beat

I’m done with classes for my last semester of college! Too bad I won’t be getting the police beat anymore from the campus paper. This week was a good one though. Enjoy.

1. Suspects in a white Chevrolet pickup were throwing snowballs at people near Helaman Halls. Officers were able to apprehend the suspects and give them a verbal warning.
2. An officer was dispatched because of several persons dressed only in bikinis in the Quad. They were gone on the officer’s arrival.
3. A male student threw a snowball at another male by the JFS building. He was cited for disorderly conduct.
4. A female student living in off-campus housing received a phone call from a male caller asking her if she would like to answer a few questions. He told her to lie down on the floor and relax. She felt uncomfortable, so she put the phone on the floor. After a while she could hear the man yelling, so she hung up.
5. A student set papers on fire on the bulletin board in W-hall in Deseret Towers. After he lit the papers he yelled “Fire” and left the area.
6. A male visitor was looking up Satanic Web sites in the library. He was asked to leave the premises.
7. Officers were dispatched to the Wilkinson Student Center after it was reported that two males had been shaking vending machines. The officers located the suspects who showed them a signature card transaction of the items they purchased.

The moral of the story is. No snowball throwing, No bikinis, and no shaking vending machines when your purchase doesn’t come out or someone will call the cops on you.

The World Is Flat

I don’t know if you’ve heard of this book. It is a best seller now and is about how technology and outsourcing has leveled the playing field globally. It is intriguing I was supposed to read it for one of my classes but only got half way through the first chapter. I wrote a paper about it today and was doing some research and found a funny article about a man who truly believes the earth is flat. I don’t believe it for a second but the man has some truly interesting points. He believes the earth is a flat circle with the north pole at the center. So if someone says they’ve flown around the world then they just went in one big circle. He also thinks the moon is about as far away from the surface of this flat earth as the distance from San Francisco to Boston. Read it it is funny.

Last Week

This is the last week of the fitness challenge. You have 4 more days to lose weight and get your miles in. I went for a 5 mile jog today and it nearly killed me. It was freezing cold and I’m not in my peak condition.

Peer Trainer

Thanks to one of my visitors, I came across a website that will help my fitness challenge group keep track of their fitness and be accountable to the group. I don’t know about the rest of you but ever since I stopped reporting weekly I’ve gone downhill. I haven’t lost any weight in the past couple weeks and maybe even gained a pound or two. The first challenge ends on Nov 19 so we have two weeks before we start another challenge. If you’re interested in joining Peer Trainer click on the title of this post, register (it’s free), and join my group. It’s called Stubz Fitness. If there are no spots left and you still want to join let me know and I will see what I can do. Link
