Oh Baby

Nesting
Take a look at the ticker above. 16 days to go. Sarah told me she’s ready. Yesterday I came home to the cleanest house ever. She cleaned everything! I don’t know where she got the energy because she has been exhausted lately. Do you think she is “nesting”? So this baby better come before we mess the house up again. Sarah has been having contractions for the past couple weeks and a week ago she was a “1”. She has another checkup tomorrow. I’m betting she’s a 2-3 tomorrow. We are hopeful this baby will come on her own.

Jackson
He really needs to start talking. He gets mad when we don’t know what he wants but we can’t read his mind all the time. He is using a lot of words now.
More = Moo
Blue = Boo
Red = Re
Bob (the builder) = Baa
Ball = Baa
Dad = Da
Mom = Ma
No = No (he knows this one really well)
Yes = Uh huh

He has shown a lot of interest in the toilet so we got him a potty chair so he doesn’t fall in. Even though he sits on the toilet a few times a day he only went potty once. Not an once of which made it in the toilet. His favorite part is getting TP and wiping then flushing it down. It will be really weird if he’s potty trained before he can talk.

New House

We move in Feb 1. This house will be 10x better than our house in Riverton. There’s a pool, an awesome swing set, 5 bedrooms and a real master bath. Oh and a living room. We are excited to get a little more established. The house in Riverton still hasn’t had any offers. We are set to drop the price by the end of the week if there are no offers. Thankfully we still have some breathing room and can drop the price quite a bit before we start losing some of the money we put into it. Let’s hope we don’t have to go that far though.

Goodbye Utah!

It is official. We no longer live in Utah. We are currently in a hotel in Page, AZ en route to Mesa via the Grand Canyon. We left our empty house in Riverton around 2pm yesterday after a busy day of cleaning, servicing the car, loading our POD and packing the car. Some neighbors came over to help clean and brought a steamer and a carpet cleaner so our house is the cleanest it has ever been. Much much cleaner than when bought it. To give you an idea of the transformation our house has undergone I’ve created a web page showing before and after pictures. Some highlights include our vinyl fence, central air, remodeled the bathroom, painted all but one room (some twice). Replaced the newel of our staircase, replaced fridge, replaced stove hood with a micro hood, replaced most of the light fixtures and door handles, fixed the sprinklers and switched them from culinary to secondary, added a swing set and replaced sand box and much more that I can’t think of right now. Everyone we talked to this week made sure to tell us how much they noticed we had done for our house, the neighborhood, and ward activities. We hope we can have a big impact on our new ward as we hope to be in our next home for 6-10 years (maybe more).

Stay tuned for photos from our visit to the Grand Canyon today. We also meet with the owners of the home we’re buying to sign the contract and begin escrow. We are scheduled to close on Feb 7.

Busy busy busy

Timeline:

Tuesday 12/18: Got a job offer with Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment. We put our house up for sale.

Wednesday 12/19: Sarah and Jackson fly to AZ for a friends wedding and Christmas. I quit my current job, which, due to holidays and timing, means I’m unemployed until January 7th. Sarah also went to see a home in Arizona near her sister and aunt. The home isn’t even on the market yet.

Thursday 12/20: Sarah looks at 8 other homes with a realtor including this one which we think is great. Meanwhile, I prep our home to be shown to our first buyer.

Friday 12/21: I fly to AZ for Christmas. First potential buyer views our home.

Saturday 12/22: Together we visit several more homes including Sarah’s top two above.

Sunday 12/23: We go to Sacrament Meeting at the ward of one of the homes we liked. The top two homes are in the same stake and meet in the same building.

Monday – Christmas Eve Festivities
Tuesday – Christmas and Fly back to Utah.
Wednesday – Today we are ready to make an offer on the first house Sarah saw. We keep you posted as the home buying process progresses.
