Leap Year Baby

Sarah had her doctor’s appointment today and she asked the doctor if we might be able to schedule the c-section on February 29th since next year is a leap year. We’re still not sure if we want to cause that kind of confusion for our child but it could be fun for them. Maybe every fourth birthday would be a special birthday. It makes sense. 8, 12, 16 are important birthdays.

Sarah was actually born on Feb 28th of a leap year. Missed it by a day!

Hand Foot and Mouth … Oh my!

Well, this week Jackson woke up Tuesday in the middle of the night with a really high fever. He was burning up – we gave him some medicine, but he wouldn’t go back to sleep and he still had all of his energy – he was running around like crazy and constantly trying to get us off the couch to play with him. I decided to take him to the doctor in the morning and we found out that he had hand, foot and mouth. He didn’t have any of the rash, but he had a sore throat that looked like strep. Anyway, we hardly took naps that day and that night he decided he didn’t want to sleep either. I was so tired, but he just wanted his mommy! Finally about 3:00 AM he was climbing on to the couch and fell asleep half way up. I didn’t dare move him, because I was sure he would wake up, so I just put my hand on his back to keep him from falling off and he slept until 8:00! Hooray! The next night he slept pretty well, and its just been up from there. What a relief – I didn’t know if I could do another night without sleep! Anyway, he is back to his normal self now and I am so happy to have my healthy little guy!
We were glad he was healthy again because some of his cousins were coming to visit from AZ this weekend and we wanted to hang out with them. We’ve had such a blast with them and we are going to miss having so many cousins to keep us company!

Fight Porn

I was just visiting with family and the topic came up about a non-profit organization called CP80. The group was self-started by Ralph Yarro and they’ve come up with a great solution to help families protect their children from porn. With TV we can choose the channels we want to pay for but the internet is wide open and filters help but are not bullet proof. What CP80 wants to do is create a family friendly internet channel where inappropriate content is forbidden. When you purchase your Internet Service you could choose Open Internet or the Family Friendly channel. Pornography is already regulated online but it is next to impossible to enforce. This method would make enforcing current regulations very easy.

Gas Prices

I was reading through my old posts and back in Aug 2005 I had a post about the outrageous gas prices. $2.55!!! If we were only so lucky now.

$3.19 and it’s only June and we all know prices increase over the summer months. Will I be quoting $4.00 by the end of the year?

It’s time to consider riding my bike to work.
