Disneyland Day 1

Disneyland is more fun as a parent of little kids. Everything is amazing to them. They loved almost every ride they went on and wanted to go again and again. They couldn’t comprehend that there were many more things to do and see. We did dumbo twice, teacups 4-5 times, Jackson did Autopia 4 times and Toy Story Midway twice. When we asked him what is favorite was though it was Soarin California where he got to fly! Lacey loved meeting princesses and especially Cinderella. She’s her favorite.
Here are some highlights.

Little Hair cut

Lacey’s hair had grown so long… but only in the back, so we decided it was time for Lacey’s first hair cut to even things out a little. We took her down to Jackson’s favorite place, where they give you a dum-dum after they’re done. She sat very still and was very good. Jackson was able to get his hair cut too in the chair right next to Lacey and they both liked that. Then at the end, they chose their suckers and we were on our way!  Here are the best before and after shots I could get of Lacey:

p.s. – don’t worry, we didn’t lose the curls, she just doesn’t like to spend that much time on her hair.

Christmas & New Years

What a great time of year – I can’t believe it came and went so fast! We definitely enjoyed 2 long weekends in a row – its nice to have Dad around all day!
To start off the Christmas season, at Thanksgiving with Micah’s family we received some Christmas decorations from the Tripps and I was so anxious to put them up – Jackson loved the nativity block and advent calendar filled with candy. Then, the night we got home we were surprised with a gift on our doorstep from the Andersons. It was a beautiful manger that was filled with straw and a sweet book to go with it.

These decorations prompted many, many questions from Jackson and I felt the Spirit while we were given many, many more opportunities to talk about and testify of Jesus’ birth to him and Lacey. They definitely helped me to remember the true meaning of Christmas this year.

The Monday before Christmas we had a great little family home evening with most of the Coons family.

On Christmas Eve we had the Stubblefields’ traditional Chinese food for dinner and then went to the Woods for the nativity re-enactment and delicious cookie decorating with part of the Coons family.

Christmas morning was so fun. Jackson didn’t wake up until about 8:15. Lacey woke up at 6:30 but had no idea what was waiting in the other room. There were great surprises for all of us!

Then we packed up and went to Mama-great’s for breakfast and headed out to the cabin to play in the SNOW! Jackson and Micah stayed out all day Saturday and sledded and played until after dark! Lacey liked the snow, but I should have gotten her some better mittens – then she would have loved it too!

On New year’s eve we played games with any family that was still in town – we had a lot of fun! Then New Year’s Day Micah got the bikes loaded up, made a picnic, and drove us to a great park! We loved it and had a great time! Sunday was Jackson’s first day in Sunbeams. He was a little nervous to leave nursery, but after the first 10 minutes, he warmed up to primary and he told me they had some great snacks in his class:o). I guess we’ll see how it goes next week!

Projects

I told you I’d update you when I finished a few more projects… well, I’ve had so much fun getting things ready for Christmas this year. This is what I’ve been up to:

JOY plaques – Thanks to Micah for helping cut the wood and doing some of the spray painting for me! It really was a joint effort.

Christmas Jars – I think I’ll make some of these for myself and fill them with something I can keep up year round. I was a little disappointed with the jars I found, but I still think they turned out pretty good.

And Finally…

This little doll. I learned a lot on this one. I’m not great at sewing or reading patterns, but I just decided to go for it anyways.  It’s definitely not perfect but I was happy with the results, and my kids were pretty impressed (that’s all that really matters… right?).

It was so fun to see the progress as each of these came together! I’m loving this hobby, but I’m thinking its going to have to take a back burner for a few months in about 9-10 weeks. I’m getting excited!

Merry Christmas!

I thought doing a Christmas card would be a good idea this year… little did I know, the store we ordered from had other things in mind for us this year! After many, many attempts to make it happen, we came out with just enough to send a hard copy to some family, so I’ve decided to post our well wishes to the blog! Oh well –  We still hope you have a Merry Christmas, and know we were thinking of you as we  tried to print and send out cards!
