Weekly Progress

The first week of the Stubz Fitness Challenge is over. I hope you all are doing well. I walk/ran a total of 9.5 miles this week. 5.5 of which are walking to and from campus. I lost 1.5 lbs. 1 inch in my chest, 1 inch in my bicep, and a 1/2 inch in my hips and thigh. No loss in the waist, unfortunately. That’s okay, I’m sure it will come. It’s my first place to gain and my last place to lose. I’m pretty excited about these results. I guess it is to be expected since I was at about my all time heaviest at the start of this challenge. I probably would have been lighter had I not eaten a bunch of junk yesterday at a friend’s BBQ and later had ice cream in the evening. Oh well, it’s worth it to enjoy food sometimes. I’m always going to have those moments and that’s why I need to keep the habit of running to maintain a descent fitness level.

Highlights:
1. Went jogging twice.
2. Walked to and from campus 5x
3. Ate reasonably for most of the week

Goals for next week:
1. Jog 3x
2. Replace sugar cereal with protein shake 3x
3. Eat at least one fruit and one vegatable a day
4. Do push-ups and sit-ups at least 2x

Bustin’ Buttons

My clothes have gotten real tight recently and there are a few articles of clothing that won’t go on. I don’t really want to buy all new wardrobe so I’ve been trying figure out what I should do. I came up with a great idea. The only clothes I’m going to buy will be athletic clothing. Jogging suit, running shorts, extra pair of tennis shoes. There’s no real dress code for school or work so I can wear these clothes every day. Then if I lose weight I should still be able to use these clothes. Also, I won’t have an excuse for not going for a jog since I will always be dressed for it. Then if I do run one day I can wear my second pair of tennis shoes the next day and still be ready to run again. It’s a great plan. Right now I only have two pairs of running shorts which makes running more than 2-3 times a week pretty tricky.

On that note, I went for a jog for the first time in about two months. It was pretty sad. I went for a two-mile loop and had to start walking just before I finished the first mile. I’ve been having problems with my knee and it was hurting pretty bad. I ended up walking/jogging most of the rest of the way and near the end my back started to hurt. I can only improve from here. I just wish I had a good knee and I hope I don’t make it worse by running a lot with all this extra weight.

Fitness Documentary

As part of the fitness challenge I’m planning to create a documentary about how I improve from a couch potato to a cross country runner. No one will probably ever see my film but I will still have fun making it. Post your ideas for things to include in the documentary. If you had a documentary about your own life what would it be called?

Stubz Fitness Challenge

I’m not dead. I was on vacation. I ended my summer job and now I’m sitting in my first class on the first day of my last semester of computer engineering. It’s an 8 am class so we’ll see how often I make it. I’ll probably use this class to post on the blog.

I’m looking for people that want to join my fitness challenge. It is a 12-week challenge. For those that want to join just email me and maybe send me a before picture. After you join, each week you will send me how many miles you’ve walk or jogged. 15 minutes of other cardio activity will count as 1 mile. You’ll also send me how many pounds you lost that week plus how many inches you’ve lost in your chest, waist, hips, thigh and arm. At the end I will give a certificate to the person who clocks the most miles and one for the person that changes the most in size and if you submit a before and after picture we’ll let everyone vote on who has changed the most.

Each week I will post everyone’s results so you can push yourself to compete with the rest of the group.
