Prop 102

Today I went down to the yesformarriage.com phone banks and volunteered to call people about Prop 102. I was kinda nervous to make the calls before I went (we all know how much we love telemarketers) but I decided that it is definitely something I believe in and it will make a difference in our lives and our children’s lives. It ended up being very easy and I actually really enjoyed it. Very few people minded me calling and most were happy to be able to tell me that they were definitely for or in a few cases definitely against this proposition.
So… in case you hadn’t heard, the marriage amendment (Prop. 102) will be on our AZ ballot in November. It will read:

“Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.”

Vote “Yes,” spread the word, and let’s get this passed this time around. Check out yesformarriage.com.

One year older and wiser…maybe

It was Micah’s 27th birthday on Monday and he had a great day! As we were making the cake for his birthday Jackson kept saying, “Me?” meaning, “this is mine?” so I kept telling Jackson it was for Daddy’s birthday and he would say,”No… Mine.” He had convinced himself that anything special we were doing for Micah’s birthday was actually for him, so he was especially excited about the day! He got to help dad blow out the candles on the cake so he was a happy boy. Other than that, we went to Joe’s BBQ and it was delicious – Micah had never been before and he really liked it. It was great – they even gave the birthday boy his meal for free! What a day! The real topper though was that it was cool enough to sit outside at the restaurant! Woohoo!

We sure love Dad around here, he is awesome! Happy Birthday!

Fun at the Cabin!

This last week we went up to the cabin to get out of the heat and to spend some time with cousins. We even talked Michelle in to coming down to spend a week there with us. All the grand kids were there except two (we missed the Wisconsin Coons kids) and we had a fabulous time! Jackson was a free man – this was his type of place. There was so much space inside and out to explore and play! He loved having all the cousins to play with all the time! He is going to be so bored after this great trip! Some of the highlights: Having FHE around the fire pit that Papa-dad built and making “delicious hot shmoes”, racing skidders on the deck that goes almost all the way around the cabin, always having cousins to play with, going to the lake and feeding ducks, playing on the playset and in the sand and celebrating Brandon’s 2nd b-day with lots of balloons! We can’t wait to do it again sometime!

Enjoying the walk around the lake

Is there anything better than swinging in a shaded hammock?

Best cousins!

We all came home Friday and because it was so hot Saturday we decided a swim party was in order. I’m not really sure how many people are supposed to be able to fit in our pool but it was such a blast to have everyone there – thanks for coming!

We are sad that all the cousins have to go back to school this week – the summer break always ends too fast!

In other news… Lacey’s first tooth finally poked through this afternoon! Hooray for Lacey!
What a week!

Family Reunion

Last week was the Stubblefield Family Reunion in Soda Springs, CA. We had a lot of fun. It was a long drive but the kids did really well. Lacey slept most of the way there and back and Jackson was very pleasant and watch videos most of the time. It was great to spend some time with family and see some new faces. The place where my parents rent the cabins is beautiful. Here are some highlights from the reunion.

The day we left was our 4th anniversary so I decorated our car for the drive. We got a few honks and thumbs up along the way.

We had a rocket launching competition with Grandpa’s homemade air compressor launcher and our rocket went the highest (I estimate about 377 yards – hang time was 8.4 seconds).

On the July 4th we went out on the lake in a canoe with the Runyans and had a blast chasing a bald eagle all over. We managed to get a couple good shots of it. I thought it was fitting to have a sighting of the national bird on independence day.

Did I mention the lake was beautiful? Here is a shot I took one morning as I was eaten alive by mosquitos.
