Happy Father’s Day to All and to All a Good Night!

Jackson, Lacey and I have talked about Father’s Day for the last few days. They were confused at first what Father’s day was exactly, so I told them it was kinda like a birthday where we celebrate Dad and how great he is. They thought the idea was great! Jackson got our “Happy Birthday” sign out, but we decided that didn’t quite fit, so we made a special Happy Father’s Day sign. We got some presents and talked about the good food we would make for Dad. So here’s what we did… We made a fun card and drew pictures for Grandpas. For breakfast we (I) made Micah some French Toast topped with strawberries, powdered sugar, and syrup and had eggs on the side. Originally, I had planned to have the kids help carry it in to Micah in bed, but nobody was up by then and I woke Micah up when I was whisking the mix for the French Toast. Oh well – it was kinda nice to have some quiet time together this morning. Jackson was so excited for our present that he made sure Micah opened it soon after he woke up. I don’t think Micah was as excited about his kite as Jackson was, but that’s ok. Hopefully we can fly this kite somewhere in the next few weeks or Jacks will be disappointed!
We love our Dad! He’s so fun and does good work for our family. We always look forward to him coming home after work each day. He’s so creative and spices things up for us, especially compared to boring old mom! He’s very sweet and loving to Jackson, Lacey and Rachelle. We sure appreciate all he does for us!
He’s got one more thing coming, but it didn’t arrive in time, so I guess we’ll make it a Father’s Day Week of sorts! Hurray! Happy Father’s Day!

President and Sister Turk

Today was the Turks’ farewell. It was so nice to be there and hear their talks and testimonies. I was so glad to be there. I had sharing time today in my ward about the Holy Ghost, and as I was preparing I kept thinking I would pick up a few things from their talks that I could share. They were great and inspiration came to me as I listened to them.

Tonight we went over to the Ashby’s and had a “tie and ice cream” party for them and said our “see ya laters” and “Good lucks”! After I came home tonight and got through the craziness of bedtime, I was able to sit quietly with Rachelle and think a little. I have so many great memories with the Turks all throughout my life, but especially from when I was in elementary school. I loved being called Sarah “Dean” when I was at their house, and playing games, making movies or tapes, and doing fun science experiments. Life was always fun and exciting at the Turks house (at least until bedtime ;o) I am grateful to them for the great examples they have always been to me!

I am so excited for the missionaries in Peru – they get the BEST of the best! We’ll miss you, but we know you’ll be great!

We love the Turks!

We’re learning the Articles of Faith

A couple months ago, Jackson was asked to give the scripture in primary. It was the 6th article of faith. So, I thought I was being ambitious to even try, but I decided we would try to memorize it. It has such big words and words that I know he doesn’t hear very often, but he learned it very quickly without a problem. Every night he would say it to me – he was so proud of himself.

So that gave me the idea … I decided this summer we would learn all of the Articles of Faith. I thought it would take all summer, but he is so excited to learn them. He loves it!

Wedding in Las Vegas

This last weekend we went to LasVegas to be at Tim and Audrey’s wedding. What a weekend! It was beautiful weather and we had a great time! We partied hard and had so much fun with everyone! Their reception was outside and so BEAUTIFUL! Wow – there is some creative talent in that family. It really was such a fun night. It was really windy so they weren’t able to have all the decorations the way they wanted. I wish I would have taken pictures at the entrance of the whole thing – it was so awesome!

It was so nice of them to think of our little kids – they had a cute little table just for kids! We sure appreciated it and it got some good use!

The next day we headed to the Vegas temple for their wedding. It was lovely, thanks to everyone who watched our kids. Jacks and Lacey stayed at the hotel with cousins and a babysitter and one of Audrey’s friends watched Rachelle at the temple for us.  The sweet little thing fell asleep while we were in the temple and didn’t wake up for several hours after that!

waiting for the newlyweds to come out of the temple

We decided to go bowling there since Jackson kept asking if we could go

We swam at the hotel pool every day there. Jackson was so mad we had to come home. It was a great vacation for our family!

All the fun of Summer

Jackson and Lacey are in swim lessons now. DJ, Brandon, and Anna are in the same class as them and we love it.

Aren’t goggles the greatest?

Cute little Shell at swim lessons – we love to watch the kids swim and sweat our buns off! She’s a good sport most of the time.

One day after swim lessons we went bowling with a bunch of cousins. We had a great time and Jackson has asked every day since then if we are going bowling.

These ramps speed the game up so much!

We love to bowl!
