Cats Actually Are Good For Something
I’ve never owned a cat. There was a cat that would come to our door everyday when I was younger. Everytime we would go outside it would be there wanting food I suppose. We would tell it to “scram!” and chase it off.
One day we decided we would leave the door open a little bit and see if the cat would come inside. Hesitantly, it creeped inside. After it got inside it walked around quite comfortably. It even wondered over to our back door where our dog was drooling on the glass and pawing at the already scratched pane. Sage is a 90 lb golden lab mix. She’s quite a friendly dog and really only wanted to play with her new friend. The cat however trotted confidently over to the door as if she knew the beast 10 times her size was helplessly detained.
Then, in a playful and excited jump Sage pushed her front paws on the glass and it popped open. It apparently had not been closed tightly. What happened next was a blur of chaos. The cat let out a cry and dashed for safety. By now the front door had been closed and, unfamiliar with the territory, the cat scrambled into each room hiding under beds with its fur on end, shivering in terror. The dog thought this was a game. She chased the cat around for several seconds as we screamed, laughed and looked in shock at the scene taking place before our eyes.
Someone yelled to get a hold of Sage and put her back outside. This was not an easy task when she was so big and so excited. Nonetheless, we were able to trap her and shew the cat back outside. We never had a problem with that cat ever again.
