November 2008

We’re slackers! I’m sure no one even bothers coming to our blog anymore since we haven’t updated in a month. First I’d like to say Happy Birthday to Emily. She turns 25 today! We also want to thank her family and my parents for their visit this weekend. We enjoyed the company and the fun. We have a lot to blog about and I am trying to decide the best way to do it. If you’re the type that is just interested in pictures then just head over to our Picasa albums here, and here. Otherwise, sit back and relax as I take you through November in the Stubblefield home.

Jackson discovered the ice cream van. You should see his face when he hears the familiar song. It truly is like the pied piper is calling him. We have a very interesting ice cream lady

Sarah came out after putting Lacey down for a nap to find Jackson on the counter with a pan and eggs. He really likes to cook and I let him crack the eggs when he helps me.

Lacey enjoys feeding herself. She hates being spoon fed now and prefers pizza, pasta, crackers, sweet potatoes and bananas. She’ll eat a large banana all by herself.

My parents and the Lyon family came for Thanksgiving. I had the pleasure of cooking and carving my first turkey. I made sure to find as many tutorials online as possible and I must say it was very tasty.

Sarah did everything else (except the rolls and pies – thanks mom). It was all very delicious. Everyone loved the carrot casserole and the sweet potatoes were very good.
Jackson enjoyed entertaining his cousins. The twins provided hours of running, chasing, and wrestling. He is bored out of his mind now they are gone.

One of the many “dog piles” from this weekend.

We visited the temple lights the day after thanksgiving.

Olive Garden for Emily’s Birthday.

Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo.

Thanks to my parents and Emily for the fun weekend. We had a blast.

Family Reunion

Last week was the Stubblefield Family Reunion in Soda Springs, CA. We had a lot of fun. It was a long drive but the kids did really well. Lacey slept most of the way there and back and Jackson was very pleasant and watch videos most of the time. It was great to spend some time with family and see some new faces. The place where my parents rent the cabins is beautiful. Here are some highlights from the reunion.

The day we left was our 4th anniversary so I decorated our car for the drive. We got a few honks and thumbs up along the way.

We had a rocket launching competition with Grandpa’s homemade air compressor launcher and our rocket went the highest (I estimate about 377 yards – hang time was 8.4 seconds).

On the July 4th we went out on the lake in a canoe with the Runyans and had a blast chasing a bald eagle all over. We managed to get a couple good shots of it. I thought it was fitting to have a sighting of the national bird on independence day.

Did I mention the lake was beautiful? Here is a shot I took one morning as I was eaten alive by mosquitos.

FHE at the Temple

We decided to take Jackson to see the Mesa Temple tonight for FHE. We wanted to make sure and see the Reflections of Christ display at the visitor’s center before it ends next week. Jackson had fun and liked seeing all the Jesus pictures and statues. It’s amazing how well little kids can recognize Christ at such a young age.

Pictures

Here are some pictures of Lacey. She’s doing great. Lots of eating and sleeping. She went to church for the first time today and slept through sacrament meeting then Sarah took her home. She is getting very alert and yet she can be very cuddly. She has been very easy. Our only concern has been her reflux. If she eats for a minute too long it all comes up. We’re not too worried because she is gaining plenty of weight.

Easter

Coloring eggs with a 2 year old is fun but stressful. Our table and Jackson’s hands got dyed more than the eggs did and all the eggs turned out pink and purple because those are the colors Jackson had. It also didn’t help that we didn’t have any vinegar, which makes a big difference. Oh well, he had fun. He did very good finding them in our backyard on Easter.
