Halloween Fun

Last week for Family Night we thought it would be fun to get some decorations up. We decided that we would make a couple of scarecrows to sit by our front door. It was fun for Micah and I but Jackson and Lacey LOVED it! We saved some newspapers from the few days before and Jackson crumpled a piece at a time and threw them on the floor around Lacey.
Every time a piece of crumpled newspaper came flying Lacey’s way she would laugh uncontrollably which set Jackson off too. They were really enjoying each other.

Here is our final product.

The other day Jackson went to get the mail with me and there was a little town newspaper on the driveway… He picked it up, removed the rubber band while he was running inside, and started taking the newspaper apart piece by piece and crumpling each page! He was so proud of himself and was missing Lacey’s laughter (she was napping) … he asked if he could go wake her up and was so sad when I told him she needed rest and he needed to clean up the mess he just made! What a mean mom!

Bonus Fact: We’ve been doing the Jillian Michaels workout DVD and he likes to use trains or train tracks as dumbells and do jumping jacks with us. His favorite question is “What doing Mommy?” (Mommy…Mawdy…Daddy = Daddy). Sarah will say, “Exercising.” …”Oh, sixercising?”

One year older and wiser…maybe

It was Micah’s 27th birthday on Monday and he had a great day! As we were making the cake for his birthday Jackson kept saying, “Me?” meaning, “this is mine?” so I kept telling Jackson it was for Daddy’s birthday and he would say,”No… Mine.” He had convinced himself that anything special we were doing for Micah’s birthday was actually for him, so he was especially excited about the day! He got to help dad blow out the candles on the cake so he was a happy boy. Other than that, we went to Joe’s BBQ and it was delicious – Micah had never been before and he really liked it. It was great – they even gave the birthday boy his meal for free! What a day! The real topper though was that it was cool enough to sit outside at the restaurant! Woohoo!

We sure love Dad around here, he is awesome! Happy Birthday!

Family Reunion

Last week was the Stubblefield Family Reunion in Soda Springs, CA. We had a lot of fun. It was a long drive but the kids did really well. Lacey slept most of the way there and back and Jackson was very pleasant and watch videos most of the time. It was great to spend some time with family and see some new faces. The place where my parents rent the cabins is beautiful. Here are some highlights from the reunion.

The day we left was our 4th anniversary so I decorated our car for the drive. We got a few honks and thumbs up along the way.

We had a rocket launching competition with Grandpa’s homemade air compressor launcher and our rocket went the highest (I estimate about 377 yards – hang time was 8.4 seconds).

On the July 4th we went out on the lake in a canoe with the Runyans and had a blast chasing a bald eagle all over. We managed to get a couple good shots of it. I thought it was fitting to have a sighting of the national bird on independence day.

Did I mention the lake was beautiful? Here is a shot I took one morning as I was eaten alive by mosquitos.
