We headed up to the cabin for fall break and had lots of fun with all the cousins! Lacey and Anna are now best friends almost all the time. Its so nice to have them play nicely together!
Even Rachelle had a great time and enjoyed all the attention. Jackson had a blast with the older boys and all the boys his age – he was in heaven. I think he went through some withdrawals when he came home. I remembered the camera but not the memory card – so I just have a couple pictures from my sister of the girls. We did have the video camera though so I got some video from the race track Jackson’s been asking to go to when we’re up there. It was so fun – he loved having McKay drive with him and Micah had a great time in his speedster car (he became a kid again when he got in that car) and Lacey said she had a good time too.
(Jackson says to me, “This is an easy one mom”) j: How does a swing talk? a: (in a high pitched voice), “Swing, swing, swing!’
j: How does a hair go to a hair? a:They want to break their toys!
j: How does a rhyming thing go to another rhyming thing? a: Because he wanted to be a frog!
j: How does a baby go to another baby? a: Because he wanted to visit the other baby, because he wanted to come in and almost break his couch!
Lacey:
j: Funny Faces!!!
j: Shells go in the water!
We made some sandwiches today and these two sat down to eat and this was part of their conversation. Sometimes I forget to write the funny things down that they say or do, so since I was sitting at the computer I thought I’d take the chance to record some of this. Yet, its not really the jokes that I think are the greatest part of this, the best part (that I just can’t record in writing) is the crazy laughter that comes after each joke!
Sometimes when I stop and watch my kids playing, I can’t believe how old they are getting! How do they grow up so fast?
A few things I’ve been meaning to post about lately…
Rachelle is getting so big! She’s 7 months old. For about the past 6 weeks or so, when I walk into her room after a nap this is what she is doing
She pulls herself up to stand everywhere and she is crawling like crazy – This girl is a mover! She is so much fun – I love being with my sweet little Rachelle.
Lacey has started a tap/ballet/tumbling class and is LOVING it! She has a great instructor, Jennifer. She loves her dance shirt (her leotard) and tap and ballet shoes! Its the best to see how happy she is with herself at the end of each class. Its been fun to watch and I’ve met some nice moms who want our class to do everything together! We’ve got future class plans and park play date plans for when the weather will cool down (maybe this week).
Lacey is dying to be in preschool. I’m kicking myself for not putting her in but I’ll just have to start doing a little teaching myself this year I guess. I may start looking for some kind of learning class she can do just 1 time a week.
Jackson is a big helper and always tells me how much he loves Rachelle. He feeds her and occasionally gives her a bottle for dad. He is so kind and will almost always stop to make her laugh or smile.
He loves preschool! Its been funny this year when I ask him what they did at school when I pick him up he says, “I don’t know,” or “Not yet, I’ll tell you at home,” or “I can’t remember.” Last year he would tell me almost everything. The other day, Jackson had a smarties in his hand after school and he told me he and one other classmate were the only ones in class that got them. His teacher was standing right there and explained that she had asked the class to stay sitting in a circle in the room while she went to hide a stuffed animal out in the yard for their activity. I guess while she was gone, some of the kids decided it would be funny to hide under the table. Well, when she came back Jackson and the other child were sitting where they were asked to stay and the others were under the table, so she said she decided to give a little positive reinforcement to those who followed her instructions. Wow – I was impressed. Some things that make me laugh…Lately Jackson’s been saying to me, ” Mom – I’m always right, you’re wrong,” and when he’s telling a story he’s excited about he says, ” and guess what?” at the beginning of almost every sentence. One of his favorite things he learned lately is to pump his legs on a swing! A few times a day he’ll run out there and jump on the swing. It makes him so happy to do it all by himself!
Last week I made giant cupcake for Ashlyn’s baptism. It was the perfect excuse to try out some marshmallow fondant. I had a blast! I tried a few different things. Now that I have an idea of how it works, I’m excited to mess around with it in the future to get a little better.
I love my sweet kids and husband. Life really is good. There is so much to be thankful for!
Our first soccer game was a success. Almost all the players were able to score and the kids really enjoyed getting in there and playing. I was curious to see which kids would really get it and some of them actually surprised me. Sarah got a couple of Jackson’s goals on video. I was proud of Jackson and our whole team. The Polar Bears didn’t have a chance against our lean mean goal scoring machines. This league is interesting for this age group. Games are 3 v 3 with no goalie. Our team actually divides into two teams and plays simultaneously on two fields. Combined, our ten players scored 25 goals! It was fun and we’re looking forward to more games and practices.
We were all fired up to go camping a couple weeks ago when we read the weather was not not going to cooperate. Thunderstorms and rain were just not sounding too fun. We’ve been talking about camping for a LONG time, Jackson keeps asking, so we decided to camp at home. We invited Mamama and Papa-dad over and Steve and Krista! We started off with some grilled squash and zucchini and grilled saucy Parmesan chicken. It was delish!! After dinner the Coonsies joined us for a swim so that we could be cool enough to cook smores by the fire pit. I forgot to get wood (I thought we had some scraps around but we didn’t) so we ended up just cooking the marshmallows over the grill. They were actually just as tasty, gooey, and fun! Then we set up the tent. It was a little nicer evening because the storms brought a “cool front,” so we hung out with Steve and Krista late into the night (probably about 9:00 or 9:30) reading lots of books, going on cricket hunts, playing bop-it, and just talking and then they had to go. There was lightning at that point so we decided we would camp on the ground in Jackson’s room. The kids had a blast! It really was a fun night!
Thanks to Mamama and Papa-dad and Steve and Krista!
