A little story about Chelle from early July
This morning I woke up to Rachelle crying… that’s the usual way we get up, anywhere between 5:30 and 6:30ish. This morning it was a little after 6:00, but there was something strange about it – her cry was getting louder and louder, like she was out of her crib walking towards my door… I looked over at Micah and he was asleep. Sometimes, if he’s stayed up really late, he’ll go get her out of bed and leave her to play in the family room while he comes back to bed (I think he’s half asleep when that happens), and then I get up and take care of her. So I asked him, “did you get Rachelle out of bed?” “Nope, maybe she climbed out,” was his response (she’s actually the first of our kids to not climb out of the crib by 14 months, so it seemed appropriate). When we got up to check things out, Lacey was out of bed. Hmm, suspicious. Jackson was in bed, but awake. So I asked the kids and slowly the story came out… Lacey heard Rachelle crying (maybe or she just decided to go into her room), then she got Jackson up, and they went in Chelle’s room and were playing with her. Chelle wanted to get out of her crib so Jackson climbed in and lifted her over the railing, face first I think, and was handing her to Lacey. He let Chelle go, Lacey tried to catch her but Chelle was too high up and too heavy. She at least broke Chelle’s fall, but they bonked heads… that’s where the crying and coming to Mom’s room came in. Wow! I was sooooo glad there were no major injuries and everyone learned a little something so this scene has not repeated itself.
Laughing out loud! I’m so glad they have each other!
It is the funniest yet freakiest thing when your baby walks in your room for the first time unexpected.
